UMS SANDA 2012

Recently there was the UMS Sanda competition & it saw a good number of participants.

The event had about 80+ participant at the Wushu form competition (Taolu) ranging of kids age as young as 10 to adults. While the Sanda segment saw less participants (around 30+) fighters, understandable as not many people are familiar with Sanda kickboxing format & rules.

We at FightBah were spending more time at the Sanda competition area & manage to grab some videos of the event.

Most of the teams joining the Sanda competition were teams from Muaythai gyms & there was only 2 participant which were actually from actual Wushu schools. Hopefully the number will grow.

Sanda rules generally are kickboxing with no knees & elbows, but allow throws & takedowns.

(Result and update will be coming soon)

Some feedbacks in regards to the competition were the unclear boundaries of the Sanda fight area, the confusion of 2 minute for 3 rounds to only 1 minute 3 rounds, lastly the confusion of how the takedown scoring system is actually counted.

But regardless this was a good first attempt and is expected to improve and will surely get better as more events like this continue to go on. Congrats to the organisers on this event and we hope to see more!
