Fighters training: During the holy fasting month of Ramadhan.

The fasting month of Ramadhan is upon us & I was looking through the internet to find some information about training for Muslims during this season. I notice that there isn't much help: most post saying stuff like "the month is purely meant for reflection and thus no training". This does not help. As a Muslim myself, I always believe in the possibilities and effort that as Muslims, WE CAN train, fast, pray & fulfill all our religious duties. We just need to work extra harder.

Sanda Wushu fight videos @ SABAH FULL CONTACT CHALLENGE 2011

I got a private message from the organiser of the SABAH FULL CONTACT CHALLENGE (SFCC) after they saw yesterday's blog & they told me that there are more videos posted online if the readers are interested to see.

The videos below are some of the fights recorded that day. Mainly all have Sanda Wushu fighters (thus the takedown attack style). To me this is interesting as I have always heard about Sanda Kick Boxing but never knew that we had Sanda Wushu fighters around Sabah.

57th Mayor's Cup Boxing marred by bad refereeing?

The opinion of this event is solely FightBah blog's own view. Reader's discretion advised.

The 57th Mayor's Cup Boxing competition was held at the Dewan Masyarat Kota Kinabalu from the 21st to the 24th July 2011.

I have seen the Mayor's Cup Boxing event before, and from last year's experience I got to experience 1st hand, certain questionable refereeing & judging by SABA (Sabah Amateur Boxing Association) that resulted in chair throwing and an almost riot in the hall. Read about last year's controversy here.

Having hoped that this year's refereeing and judging would be better, I'm sad to say... this year was no different...

What to train?

We added a new page called: "What to train". The page is a list of some martial arts around the world and is linked to Wikipedia for your easy reference. This is to make it easier for our readers in case you read something about a particular martial art and have no idea what's the difference or worst what is it at all.

We were at Borneo Post!

A quick update on a few matters:

1stly thank you, to some of the martial artist around Malaysia for responding to my call of compiling a "martial art directory" in this blog!

The GOOD news is: I got alot of info in my database.

The BAD news however is: The page "Where to train" actually crashed a few times as I typed in all the address & link out. I do not know why this happen but for now you can see I had to cut out the images & basically need to rewrite everything in simpler fashion. Until  found another way around this technical problem / bug... I will do it in a proper format.

FightBah new look & facebook page.

Today was the 1st training day we did in Kinabalu Fighters gym using some new ISKA format, I applied the "speed & saturation" drill to our gym today & I think the members are getting a hell of a work out, some felt dizzy but all said they were happy. Adrenaline pump!!!

If you been following the blog for thus far then you'd notice the new header title picture & that we have a "Fightbah" facebook button on the right. This will be the new logo for this blog (the header being a variant of the logo I guess).

"Where to train?"

In FightBah blog, we would like to create a small directory for fighters / fans to find the right club / gym for them to train. If you check the buttons section near this blog you will find a "Where to train?" section.

While this blog will try its best to compile the correct information and cover as many places to train, we would really appreciate it if our readers can share with us some information on where else to train. Providing us with as many information about the gym would do. This blog does not limit itself to any discipline and art, so just share away what you know.

Wes Jaya seminar in KK. July 9th -10th 2011

A great event is coming to KK this Saturday & Sunday! Wes Jaya a professional Muay Thai & MMA fighter will be coming down to Kota Kinabalu and share his experience & knowledge to any interested fight enthusiast! The seminar is at an affordable RM100 for 2 days!

LIMITED TO 20 PERSON ( Full house as of July 6th update!!!)

Recap: 2nd day during ISKA Level 1 Exam.

On the 2nd day of the ISKA instructor course, you could feel it in the air the slight tension & nervousness of all the participants. It's the exam day & you could see from some of our eyes the "burning the midnight oil" effect.

Day 2 saw Master Khoo asking us to take over class as he watched silently & reviewed each of our teaching methods. Each of us were given a shot at taking over the warm up class, bag work session & kicking drills.
