57th Sabah State Wide Boxing Championship (Mayor's Cup)

This coming 21st July to the 24th July will see an exciting event here in K.K. Sabah at the Kota Kinabalu Community Hall.

It is the "57th Sabah State wide Boxing Championship" (also known as the "Mayor's Cup") tournament hosted by the Sabah Amateur Boxing Association (SABA). It is an inter-district competition to find the best boxers within the state to form the Sabah Boxing team who will then fight in SABAH SUKMA 2012.

"This year, ten teams will be competing including three new districts: Nabawan, Tambunan & Tongod.


Defending champions Keningau who is sending eight athletes is the hot favorite with four of their last year's winners still in the squad.


Tawau & Kota Belud are the biggest contingent with nine boxers each in their team. Tuaran is next with seven. Kota Kinabalu, Ranau & Sandakan have six while Nabawan & Tambunan have five. Tongod is the smallest team with only three boxers."
