A new Muay Thai gym has open in Kuching and alot of investment has been put to make this a massive Muay Thai training ground for Kuching fighters!

“This gym will not only help prepare future
generations who are good in their studies but also strong both
emotionally and spiritually. As Muay Thai goes hand in hand with
religion and culture in Thailand, these noble aspects can also be
localised in Sarawak. These positive elements can be nurtured to go with
our own tradition and culture to produce a generation who are creative
and innovative. Said Petra Jaya MP Datuk Fadillah Yusuf when officiating
at the opening ceremony of the gym yesterday.
Martial arts such
as Muay Thai kick-boxing is more than just combat sports, its is also
about building good character and discipline.
Fadillah, who is
also the Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation added
that science is closely knitted to the sport of Muay Thai which place
emphasis on the strenghtening of the eight parts of the body for self
defence or to become an ultimate fighter. “Scientific knowledge of the
human anatomy is important in Muay Thai, especially on the part of the
legs,” he revealed.
The two storey gym located along Jalan Semarak
opened its doors in Dec 2011 and currently have 130 members either
taking Muay Thai classes or pumping irons at the fully-equipped gym.
